Unplanned Care of Acutely Unwell Children and Young People
This course will provide a stimulating learning opportunity for you if you are in the field of the unplanned care for acutely ill/injured child or young person and wish to advance your knowledge and skills and enhance the effectiveness of your work.
This module will facilitate students from different backgrounds to attain core competence in the care required by children, young people and their family when acute illness/injury presents. Within your own context you will be challenged to demonstrate approaches to the care, assessment, interventions and/or support of children, young people and their families when acutely unwell.
- Study the evidence-based and application of a structured approach in the assessment of the acutely ill/injured child or young person
- Study effective communication with children, young people, families and relevant professionals
- Analyse and discuss the ethical, legal and professional issues that may be encountered when caring for acutely/ill injured children or young people and their family
- Source, discuss and use current evidence based practice in the unplanned care of acutely ill/injured children and young people
- Demonstrate competency at core level for the care of the acutely ill/injured child or young person
Learning Methods
This module is delivered using a blend of 3 optional online sessions and online methods. You will engage with directed and self-directed learning activities supported by the module team.
Assessment
This course is assessed through written assignment.
