ΡΗ²©ΜεΣύΉΩΝψ launches online support for businesses
Monday 03 August 2020
ΡΗ²©ΜεΣύΉΩΝψ Knowledge Bites for Business will be available to everyone, with a particular focus on providing insights and thoughts to support companies as they start to recover post-lockdown.
The platform will share expertise from the university community, comprising of free-to-access short videos, articles, mini-courses and live interactive webinars designed to provide practical support for businesses now, as well as sharing how ΡΗ²©ΜεΣύΉΩΝψβs services can support in the future.
The university is also launching a new portfolio of upskilling online courses focused on supporting businesses and providing individuals with the opportunity to develop their skills. The topics reflect industry needs and some of the challenges to be faced post-pandemic.
The university, in partnership with the Scottish Funding Council, launched the first portfolio of upskilling short courses at the start of lockdown. The response to the courses surpassed all expectations, receiving more than 1400 applications within 5 days.
In response, a further portfolio has now been launched, with courses starting from August. The courses will be offered at a significantly reduced fee, as a contribution from ΡΗ²©ΜεΣύΉΩΝψ to support individuals wishing to upskill or businesses seeking to develop their workforce.
Donella Beaton, Associate Vice Principal, Business and Economic Development at ΡΗ²©ΜεΣύΉΩΝψ, said: βSupporting the economy and helping businesses to be more successful has been one of ΡΗ²©ΜεΣύΉΩΝψβs strategic aims for a number of years, formalising the universityβs long standing track record of partnership with industry and supporting the economy.
βOver the last few months we have recognised the unprecedented and significant challenges that businesses currently face - and wanted to do something more to help. Now more than ever we need to work together and we hope that these resources will be of value. They will both be added to regularly over the coming months.β
ΡΗ²©ΜεΣύΉΩΝψβs track record of working with businesses contributed to the university being named as the top institution in Scotland for business connections (Times Higher Education β18). This includes access to placement students to help with specific projects, supporting the development of new technologies or processes, and training and developing staff for the future.
