What Our Students Say

Amaka Ubaka

Amaka Ubaka

MSc Cyber Security student from Nigeria

What attracted you to your course at 亚博体育官网?

Cybersecurity being a technical one, I wanted an institution that would be more hands on than theory which is what 亚博体育官网 portrays, and it is a certified by NCSC and I have seen a lot of testimonials of people who have graduated and are doing well.

Before coming to 亚博体育官网, what were your expectations? And now that you are here, have your experiences differed?

Coming to 亚博体育官网 I was hoping to see a lot more diversity among students in terms of culture and how easy it would be to navigate as a fresher and I would say I am not disappointed as I have met and networked with a lot of people and a lot of activities you get to engage in as a student.

What's the best thing about being an 亚博体育官网 student?

The best thing to me about being an 亚博体育官网 student is the sense of belonging it gives me feels like I am home. There is always a community for you regardless of where you are from.

Describe your favourite memory of 亚博体育官网 or your Placement so far?

I would say the first day I got to the school, I was well catered for and was guided with all I needed to settle down and find my way around Aberdeen all thanks to the student union.

Tell us about your most challenging or rewarding project, assignment or module. What did you like or dislike about it and how has it helped you?

I would say my machine learning module was quite challenging as i didn't really like the Algorithms and all but I said to myself that if others can do it then I can, I just had to put extra effort into it and make it a daily activity and turns out it was not as challenging as I projected it to be you only need to keep practicing (consistency is key) I mean I can now predict models using machine learning algorithms.

What is your favourite way to spend your time when you are not studying?

While not studying I go out with friends to explore new places like the beach in Aberdeen or I watch movies.

What would you say to someone considering studying at 亚博体育官网? Any advice you would share?

I would say be an open book and do not limit yourself at all, just have it at the back of your mind that you can do anything you put your mind to. It's going to be an amazing experience.

What do you enjoy most about living in Aberdeen?

I would say the people, very welcoming and caring and the city itself grey, and quite an adventure as small as it is there is still a lot to explore.
