Gokulkrishna Radhakrishnan

MSc Energy Management student from India

What attracted you to your course at 亚博体育官网?

The deep connection with the energy market and support provided in the entrepreneurship through EIG team

Before coming to 亚博体育官网, what were your expectations? And now that you are here, have your experiences differed?

I didn鈥檛 have many expectations or so. I just wanted to explore, get new perspective and gain knowledge in the energy sector.

What's the best thing about being an 亚博体育官网 student?

The best thing I鈥檇 say is getting to know about various entrepreneurial support provided by EIG team and getting involved with them, like the Innovation Challenges, Startup Accelerators, Masterclasses and so on.

Are you on a Placement and where are you doing/did you do your Placement?

I choose the Placement route but fortunately or Unfortunately I didn鈥檛 get any opportunity initially. So, I choose Startup route, as I already had been accepted as a Cohort of the Starup Accelerator program, I had opportunity to set up my business here and get a Startup visa through EIG team. The startup is based on Hydrogen energy usage and currently I鈥檓 working full time at Net Zero Technology Centre Ltd as a Project Engineer on the Net Zero Technology Transition Programme for two exciting projects, Energy Hubs and Hydrogen Backbone Link Project. The project is about developing Energy Hubs in the Scotland to generate Hydrogen and export it to international market through Hydrogen Backbone Link Project.

Why did you decide to study your course, and how has it been studying the course?

I had interest in green energy or renewable technology for like more than 6 years. And initially I was involved in Solar, EV chargers and Sustainable Energy Consulting. I also had startup back in India, It was mainly on Solar PV design and EV charging solution to the USA, at a point I realised I need more exposure and diversification and that鈥檚 the reason I came to the 亚博体育官网 for my MSc Energy Management.

Describe your favourite memory of 亚博体育官网 or your Placement so far?

The most interesting part was the course term time where I had chance to discuss about the energy technology, management terms and policy with classmates and the wonderful course leaders, like Dr Ayodele Asekomeh, Dr Anita Singh, Dr Iain MacLeod and  Dr Simon Fraser. And my favourite memory was when I attended the Startup Accelerator program and getting support from Chris, Edward, Aisha and Graham of the EIG team.

Tell us about your most challenging or rewarding project, assignment or module. What did you like or dislike about it and how has it helped you?

I think most of the assignments were challenging and were more informative for me, Since I wanted to know about the current energy markets and trends, most of the courses had recent case studies-based approach and addressed key skills to understand the energy domain.

What is your favourite way to spend your time when you are not studying?

Just a walk on the Beach, as I just live like 10 mins walk from the beach, besides that I just listen to music and go for a walk
